Knock it off

Dear Mr. Jobs:

And while I'm at it, Mr. Sun Java, Mr. Intuit, Mr. MSN IM, and any other vendor that bundles other software and prechecks it to install.

Many others have told you to "knock it off", let me add my voice to tell you to knock it off as well.  I don't want Safari on my Windows, it's just fine on my Mac Mini.  I don't care if you tell me that Mr. Microsoft MSN IM started it first by offering up Rhapsody, or that the Microsoft download site that annoyingly offers up Silverlight is more annoying, it's like when my sister and I were little and would get into arguments and my Mom would say "I don't care WHO started it, BOTH of you knock it off".

So all of you vendors KNOCK IT OFF.  I'm tired of the "up yours" ante I'm seeing around here and the utter disrespect you guys all have for us your buying customers.  It would server you guys all right if we just went out and chucked the lot of you and invented our own software.  But you know we're a captive audience so you take advantage of us.

You are eroding our trust.

And sorry John, I do think it's wrong for Sun Java to advertise Open Office to me, for Vista to offer up Silverlight.  Granted these aren't prechecked, but don't be so 'in my face' with your software.  I'm now trained that updates are security related and the industry has lulled me into gulping down anything that pops up in my system tray.

So gang, STOP THAT, all of you as my Mom would say.
